Attention, the news contains plot spoilers for The Last of Us Part II!

Everyone who has completed TLoU II remembers that Ellie's revenge led her to the resort town of Santa Barbara. But for none of the main characters, it was not a resort at all, and brought only pain and suffering. However, in the early stages of development, Ellie could have gone to a completely different place.

Here's What We Know

Early concept art by artist Balazs Agoston shows that Ellie ended up in Puerto Vallarta, which is located in Mexico.

The artist also noted that the studio was researching Mexico, so this option was seriously considered before the start of active development, but was eventually replaced by Santa Barbara.
