Adobe has announced a series of updates for Photoshop, including the ability to create images using the Firefly 3 artificial intelligence system right in the application.

Here's What We Know

The new "Generate Image" feature allows users to generate images based on text queries inside Photoshop using the Firefly Image 3 model. Previously, it was necessary to create images in a separate web application and import them into the photo editor.

-"So we gave them the ability to generate images, full text to images…Because once you have your image in Photoshop, all of a sudden you can use all the tools that we have already in Photoshop to make it better" explained Adobe's vice president of product management Zeke Koch.

The company has also updated the "Generative Fill" feature, which allows you to upload a reference image from which Firefly will generate content. In addition, a new "Generate Background" tool lets you quickly create seamless backgrounds around objects.

The new features are designed to help beginners overcome the "blank page problem" and bring creative ideas to life, while professionals can efficiently create content from scratch.

Adobe says it is committed to ethical and responsible use of AI. Firefly is trained only on licensed content, and images are tagged with AI usage metadata.

Price & When We Can Expect It

Updates are available in the latest beta version of Photoshop for desktop. Photoshop subscriptions cost $22.99 per month.
